Traditional Thai massage was created by Chiwaka Komaraphat, the physician the Great Buddha, over 2,500 years ago. Thai massage focuses on the meridian lines that carry energy through the body. This form of therapy helps restore balance to the mind, body, and spirit.
You will reap the benefits of massage as it becomes a regular part of your life. The goal is to work together to take better care of your health, long-term. Making a commitment to treat yourself better is a big step. We are happy to take that step with you.
Massage is a not a miracle cure, but a tool to help heal. Whether it is stress, illness ,or simply to pamper yourself, the benefits of massage can be life changing. The first step in the journey is consulting with our therapists about your needs, and then committing to a massage plan. We would be honored to take that journey with you.
Know that you are in the right hands by speaking with your therapist about your individual goals for your health. Be a part of your own treatment plan. Communication and informed consent are the best tools to build the type of massage that will benefit you the most.
This is a Deep Tissue Massage that targets pin point areas of the body to release blocked energy in order to restore balanced muscles and improve range of motion, as well as give an overall sense of well being. This type of of massage will include assisted stretching and close contact with the therapist. Clients remain clothed and little or no oil is use. The massage is traditionally performed on the floor but can be modified for the table depending on the client's needs. Deep stretches, trigger point therapy, reiki, focused breathing and guided meditation will be part of this traditional treatment.
The long and graceful gliding strokes of Swedish Massage are designed to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow to your heart. Swedish Massage is extremely beneficial as it decreases muscle toxins, increases oxygen levels in the blood, decreased blood pressure and anxiety, and improves elasticity in the skin. Petrissage is a technique that kneads the muscles into a flexible state to aid in relieving tension and pain. Add in myofascial stretching to melt the fascia connecting all the soft tissues, getting deep into target areas to assist with elongation of muscles. This type of massage is both relaxing and therapeutic, with out being too intense.
Hot Stone Massage is often paired with Swedish Massage. Stones are heated and used with oils to sooth, warm, and massage your muscles. Heat is a great way to melt away tension and calm severely contracted muscles. This treatment helps the body ease into deep tissue therapy, and gives the therapist an added advantage for working out chronically contracted muscles. This not only makes it easier for your therapist to get down to target areas, but also easier on the body to accept the much needed therapy. This treatment is a great tool to for chronic pain, severe tension, circulation issues, and swelling.
The Science of Reflexology is based on a map of trigger points in the foot, and their respective connections through the body. By pressing on certain points in the feet, blocked energy is released and these signals are sent up through the nervous system to corresponding areas of the body which helps relax contracted muscles in order to provide tension and pain relief. All of the major organs, muscles, and joints have reflexology points in the foot. This treatment is great for plantar fasciitis, flat feet and fallen arches, bunions or hammer toes, achilles tendonitis, arthritis, to reduce anxiety or improve sleep.
Sports massage focuses on chronic pain, and problematic muscles and tendons, as well as joint mobility and range of motion. Repetitive motions are the main cause of tendon and joint stress, and this is very true with athletes that are constantly repeating the same movements, and in general as we age and our bodies are worn from continual use. This massage will get deep in the soft tissues of the joints with neuro muscular reset, assisted stretching, trigger point compressions, myofascial stretching, rhythmic percussion, and contrast therapy.
Our lymphatic system is a network that helps clear toxins and waste from the body, as well as houses our white blood cells that help fight infection. Sometimes this system gets backed up and causes swelling and edema either due to poor circulation, a blockage in the lymph system, or sometimes the removal of lymph nodes due to certain types of surgery, like life saving cancer removal. When lymph collects, it may cause painful swelling in the limbs. Lymphatic drainage pushes fluid back toward the lymph nodes to help drain the excess fluid and reduce edema and swelling.
As we age our body changes and so do our health needs. This is no different for massage. As bones become more brittle, and skin begins to thin, the type of pressure and application for massage becomes important to avoid injury. We may also see chronic, debilitating conditions, or even end of life situations. Our ability to move around may be not be what it use to be, or even the amount of excitement we can handle in one day may be limited. The Golden Years are both glorious, and delicate. This massage service is a great way to treat our elderly with love and respect!
